Music

Energy

Falling

Found! I made a series of drawings to music years ago and thought they were lost in the move. I did these in April of 2000. I would like to reproduce them on watercolor paper and do something...not sure what!

Haydn Thoughts

After listening to Haydn and painting the big canvas, I decided to paint another small canvas 11 x 14 with remaining paint. I tried to tap into the deeper elements of his music... I see the colors very specifically for each piece. His music was so positive and lots of good energy (see painting a few posts back), but it also had lots of depth that I felt I did not capture before, so here is the "sister" painting.

Fire & Ice

I worked on this before the music pieces, but forgot to post it. It must be the 4th painting in this style. I like it, as it reminds me of the story of Pele on the Big island of Hawaii, where the lava meets the ocean and explodes.

Haydn Symphony #50

I completed Haydn about two weeks ago. I chose Symphony #50.  I listened to it for about a week, the same as for Mozart and Mahler. I'm really impressed with his musical talent...so cheerful and romantic! Real great genius, in such a different way than Mozart. If Mahler is moonlight, and Mozart is a sunset, Haydn is must be the entire atmosphere... I don't feel like I captured the music here, and will probably do a few more paintings until I feel I got it right.

Salieri

I did not spend as much time studying his piece, as it didn't seem as deep or brilliant as the others...

Mozart's #25 Concerto

Here is Mozart (Concerto #25 In C, K 503). It's a very lively painting so I don't know how it will translate into photo. This was a lot of fun to paint. I feel like I could do 10 of these!

Mahler's "Titan" Symphony

I have started painting to classical music. This is my first piece doing this...I have found that I get clear images and colors listening to music and this new painting style I've been working on flows perfect with the images I'm getting. I listened to Mahler's 1st Symphony "Titan." I started at the beginning and pretty much stopped painting about 15 minutes after the entire symphony had finished. Mahler is really deep...amazing music!

Alders

I like this one best, it's more raw that the prior ones. It's hard to take a good picture of these... The paintings have much more depth that the camera seems to portray. Very hard!

dimensions

I can't seem to stop doing this! It's really fun...I think of something to paint and try to interpret it into this style. The meaning of this one is personal!

experimenting

I have been studying impressionist art for ages it seems like...but lately I've been trying out some new techniques... I had a lot of fun doing this.
